Aktion Club: A Mission of Giving

Brooke Industries, Inc.is committed to assisting individuals with disabilities in obtaining their goals through diversity in programming. One opportunity offered to individuals is becoming a member of the Aktion Club. Aktion Club members not only make a difference in the lives of others, but also gain many of the skills required to achieve their own personal benchmarks. For example, Aktion Club members are given an opportunity to develop leadership skills, serve the community and demonstrate the dignity and value of citizens living with disabilities. One of the Aktion Club's recent activities included a fund raiser at Pizza Ranch. As a component of the event, Aktion Club members waited tables, washed dishes, maintained the cleanliness of the environment, and ensured that the buffet was adequately stocked. Participants gained work experience, while also raising a considerable amount of money. Subsequently, all proceeds from the event were distributed to organizations in need. Previous donation recipients have included: the Lions Club, Sleeping Children Around the World, the WINGS Program, and the Salvation Army. Other activities have included bell-ringing for the Salvation Army, gift making for the elderly, a brownie bake in which all the proceeds went to the Haitian Relief Fund, and a paper drive for the Solutions Center. As members of the Aktion Club, individuals gain from their experiences by giving to others.
